"If there's a train to the past, I'll be the first one to buy the ticket." - My Mom.

Yep, it is my Mom's poem back in late 1988
Originally in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language)
I heard it from my Dad when he teased Mom about the poem, lol. But to think about it, it was some kind of deep.

I asked mom,
"Why you write this, Mom? What is it about?"

Mom said,
"Ha! It was long ago when I was still on this angst-y teenage. It was about growing up, transformed into grown up world. Real world. 1988 I was graduated from School voor apothekers-assistenten (*note: equal to high school) - the year I wander from the small town with super tight budget to the big city. I have to work hard. Was hard time to adapted with no help financially from family since I got 6 younger siblings left back at hometown. We were so short on money back then.
At some point, I look back. Life is easier when I was still in school. No need to worry about money, still can count on family. I wrote that poem in Jakarta, on a train station about to go home. I had 12 CV(s) and went home with 6 CV(s) left, looking for a job. It was around August 1988 I don't really remember."

and I asked her again,
"If there does a train to the past, will you still be the first one who buy the ticket?"

"Y..No. Yes!" Said Mom.
LOL.

The point is she said that I'm on this Perfect-Age-Phase (note: maybe it's about time before having Kids - time of your 'own' - ) to have fun BOTH work/exploring the skills/worlds and to develop - and I have to embrace it instead of being lazy.

And I don't want to take everything for granted, because compare to my life,
it was a lot harder to live back then. I guess.

Well.
Sorry for long description. It was just, I'm on holiday off college at my Parent's, and as usual, there're lots of new flashbacking memories.

Made with Adobe Ideas, as usual. Finishing on Photoshop.
Anyway, available as prints here

Lovely poem. I am curious, how does it look in Bahasa Indonesian? How was it originally written?

I was having holiday between campus off to go back home
and we're at dinning table
one conversation to another Dad teased Mom about her skill on poetry (since she did a poet back then)

roughly this is the Indonesia version, the short one;
"Jika ada kereta menuju masa lalu,
aku akan menjadi orang pertama
yang membeli tiketnya.."

and I don't know what's the rest of the poem because I burst into laugh,
maybe if I'm on campus break I'll get the full version from Mom :) - and make sure is it couplets or haiku, lol

and thank you so much, Lady

Awesome quote and beautifully designed. I just checked out your FB page. Do you handwrite/hand draw these in a journal and then scan them to edit on photoshop?

aww thanks!
Most of my works are handwritten, that's true.
Mostly in deviantArt I post my 'digital' handwritten,
(I used a vector-based drawing app on ipad - it's Adobe Ideas - for the base of my works - then continue editing in the computer.)

and then, also I do manual doodle (pen/pencil/markers)
I ever scan + edit my manual works, but it's not often. Just for several occasion.
Usually I leave my manual handdrawing works as the way they are ( and then snap a photograph or two - then posted.)
